What is ours,
and what is Tedooo’s

Tedooo draws it

The design comes back from Tedooo’s design technology, the same engine behind every made-to-order piece on the marketplace. It is fast because it has seen a great many commissions.

We paint it

We paint the design you approved onto the porcelain, then it is kiln-fired so it stays. Nothing is made until you have seen your design here and said yes.

The photo stays yours

It is used to paint your piece and nothing else: not resold, not published. What goes on the porcelain is the design you approved, not the photo itself.

Before you upload

The questions people ask

If yours is not here, write to us. A real person answers.

What makes a good photo to upload?

One subject, roughly facing the camera, with their eyes visible. Daylight helps. It does not need to be sharp: a phone photo of a dog on a sofa is plenty. A pet, a person, or whoever you love. No photo at all? Describe it instead and our AI paints it.

Can I just describe it?

Yes. Pick “Describe it (AI)” and write what you want, like “a fat grey cat asleep under a pine tree”. Press Create design and you see it painted on the piece in about a minute.

What do the three styles look like?

Sumi ink is black brushwork, a red sun and a pine branch. Ukiyo-e colour looks like a woodblock print, with the great wave rolling behind. Sometsuke blue is all cobalt, above a band of seigaiha waves.

How is the name written in katakana?

Katakana is the Japanese script for names from other languages. Type the name as you say it and it is brushed by sound: Biscuit becomes ビスケット, Mango becomes マンゴー. You see it on your design before you order.

When do I pay?

At the end, once you have approved a design. Designing is free, you can run it as many times as you like, and there is no account to make first. Once you pay, your piece is painted from the design you approved and kiln-fired.

How long until it arrives?

It is painted to order, kiln-fired and shipped, and arrives 18–25 days after you order. Shipping is priced at checkout.
