Good questions.

Something else? A real person answers.

What are the three styles?

Sumi ink is black brushwork, a red sun and a pine branch. Ukiyo-e colour looks like a woodblock print, with the great wave rolling behind. Sometsuke blue is all cobalt, above a band of seigaiha waves. Each can come with the name in katakana and a hanko seal, red, or blue on sometsuke.

Who can you paint?

Your dog, your cat or a person, from one clear photo. Face to camera and good light work best. No photo handy? Describe it in a few words and our AI paints it.

How is the name written in katakana?

Katakana is the Japanese script for names from other languages. Type the name as you say it and it is brushed by sound: Biscuit becomes ビスケット, Mango becomes マンゴー. You see it on your design before you buy.

Can I keep a real plant in it?

Yes. The planter is 5.9" × 6.5" (15 × 16.5 cm), so a 4 in (10 cm) nursery pot sits inside it, and it stands on its own round bamboo saucer.

What photo works for the ink vase?

Face to camera, eyes visible, good light. We paint the head and shoulders in a few strokes of sumi ink, so the background doesn’t matter.

What if I’d like changes to the design?

Change the photo, the name or the style and paint it again. Nothing is painted until you approve the design and order it.
